I recently had the chance to lunch with Marshall Watson in Fort Worth when he spoke at the Design Inspirations Fort Worth Luncheon. The fundraising luncheon is supported by the Fort Worth Alumnae Associations of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Pi Beta Phi benefitting local charities.
The day prior to the event, I had the chance to speak with Marshall more about his book and his work. What a refreshing take on design! Marshall and I specifically spoke about what he has learned from each project. His gracious character and warmth emanate from every photograph and he shared about the craftsmen that have brought his designs to life over his career. Craftsmen in each country worked tirelessly to create custom tile mosaics, carve wood furnishings and create furnishings that beautifully reflected the region. I can’t think of a better way to offer your clients the luxury of custom designs created just for them.
Marshall presented several of his projects in his talk and proceeded to weave a trance over the hundreds of women in attendance. Each project more beautiful than the next, his detailed descriptions and intention for each space are evident in his work. If you are a designer, you will be familiar with his three furniture collections for Ferrell + Mittman and he recently announced a fourth. Marshall also recently completed a line of outdoor carpets for Doris Leslie Blau.
I could not have asked for a better way to spend an afternoon and consider myself a lifetime member of the Marshall Watson fan club. I will be following closely his next project and if you have not purchased a copy of this book……RUN and get it HERE!
