I am writing this over the skies of New Mexico as I fly back from LA to Dallas after attending the Business of Design Conference. Thanks to the wonderful technology of in-flight Wi-Fi, I am able to bring you my thoughts at 30,000 feet!
When traveling across the country, I have some of my best thoughts and ideas on the way home. I try to capture them in either my iPad or in my notebooks. When I get home, I have a plan again for what’s next and I refer back to these notes on regular occasion.
Since I am always Designing on a Deadline, I sometimes have challenges finding the time to write hand-written notes. I almost always pen them when I am in the car driving to a conference (with a driver of course) or on vacation, or on the airplane. Every few months or so, I stock up on stationary and keep a list of thank you’s and cards to be written in my down times. My hair dresser knows what this looks like too while I am in her chair – sorry Kelly!!!

Nothing means more than getting a card in the mail and even if you only have time to write two or three at a time, it means so much to the recipient. I love receiving hand-written notes in the mail and if you take the time to plan ahead, you can always find time in your busy schedule to grab your “note bag” and dash a few notes to someone special.
I will finally be home for a solid week (YAY!) and plan on meeting with several new clients to start projects. I love the beginning of a new season and even more so, the beginning of a new project. Here’s to finding time to write a few blogs AND thank you’s to those new clients on the plane today!
