When designing the living room space for my Showhome at The State Fair of Texas, I wanted to show how mixing wood finishes and styles made a room have character and style. I am often asked if it’s OK when finishes don’t match in my designs. I always tell clients that it’s my ultimate goal.
In this room, you will see everything from reclaimed barn wood on the fireplace wall, to creamy grey paint finishes on the console table and cerused oak on the coffee table. There is even a formal espresso finish on a mahogany ball and claw table next to the sofa? (all casegoods from Hickory Chair) Too much? Take a look…… I love how inviting this room feels and it’s a perfect example of how MIX, DON’T MATCH brings inviting results. Let me know how you feel about mixing finishes in your home??
