LUXE MAGAZINE COVER STORY

We have another exciting thing happening in our firm this month! We are thrilled and honored that one of our design projects was chosen to be on the cover of Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine in their July/August issue.   The home belongs to one of our dearest clients and we couldn’t be happier that their home landed the cover!  A big thank you to Stephen Karlish who did the photography – he made our work look so beautiful through his lens.

This house is a blend of modern and traditional design. The husband was more of the traditionalist and his wife wanted a fresh, modern look for their home. We worked hard to merge both traditional and modern design. For example, this master bathroom bridges the gap between both design styles with modern shower glass doors and traditional artwork and chandelier.

This fresh kitchen is the perfect place for this family to gather with family. All of their children and grandchildren have plenty of room to grab a bite or help in the kitchen. The marble slab as the backsplash keeps the space looking clean and the open lanterns over the island to keep it a bit more on the traditional side.  We mixed finishes in this space and I love how it all turned out.

And don’t worry, we didn’t forget about the outdoor space! This is definitely the place I would want to be every summer afternoon.   Make sure you pick up a copy of this months issue of Luxe and I will be sharing the entire project soon once it makes it to the Luxe website!!!

XOXO,

Denise

Getting Published and Tobi Fairley

As I mentioned yesterday, last week was a really fun week.  I have been waiting with baited breath to attend The Journey to Getting Published Camp with Tobi Fairley April 7-11 (DETAILS HERE).  I know that even after two years of intense training with Tobi, I would leave with even more contacts, great ideas and more about getting my design work published.

Of course the #1 goal here is to receive recognition for your design work when getting published.  It gives your work credibility and increases your reach to potential clients.  Getting your work published is also a great thank-you to your clients.  Our projects often take years and to be able to capture the beauty in a photograph which can them be shared with the world is a wonderful way to capture a family’s home for not only them, but for future generations.

Having professional photographs also helps when selling your home.  Your home is often shown in it’s absolute best light and I love giving a beautiful bound book of photographs to our clients once a photoshoot is complete.

With all of that being said, just before I leave for Getting Published Camp, I will be able to say we have had a great month of Getting Published here at DMI.  Last week, our Yellow Showhouse Kitchen caught the eye of West Elm and was included in their color crush blog post on Marigold.

Susanna Salk has also decided to include our kitchen in her upcoming book “Decorate Fearlessly”!!  I am so so excited to be sharing the pages of Susanna’s next book with so many other amazing designers.

We were also featured on Doodle Home’s blog.  If you haven’t checked out Doodle Home to source furnishings and products for your next design project, you are missing out.  Take a look at their website and let me know what you think!!

Thanks so much to all of you for your support with the press we received last week.  I got so many personal calls and emails of congratulations and it just made my week a very, very happy one.

Last week was a fun week here at the studio because several of our projects received recognition in publications and online.  It is always so gratifying to have your hard work pay off in the form of press!

We were so excited when Design Guide Texas announced our project made the cover of their Spring 2013 Edition!!  This project is near and dear to our hearts and was designed for a family with two young boys and needed to be elegant yet durable.

A huge thanks to Design Guide for sharing our work with their readers.  We greatly appreciate our partnership over the past three years and if you don’t follow the Design Guide BLOG and their FACEBOOK page, you should.  There are always great guest posts from designers around the state, as well as the latest trends in design.

Thanks again Design Guide – we were squealing with delight when we found out!

PS – Please come see us Thursday evening for cocktails and light bites as I unveil my Designer Showcase Vignette in the Pettigrew Showroom starting at 5:30p.  I hope to see you there!
