This week’s Deadline Dilemma is related to the Master Bedroom.  I received this email last week while I was away at High Point and I came back with great inspiration and items that can be part of our solution to have my client’s bedroom Designed with a Deadline.

Client:  Denise, I know you are busy with High Point and I’m looking forward to meeting with you on Friday, however, we are desperate for new bedding in the master bedroom and I’m curious about your advice on duvet/sham colors and sheet colors in light of the slate gray headboard direction we’re going.

Since I already have designed a color shceme that looks a little like this:

Mixed with a little of this…

So I started with a great headboard like this one below from Legacy Home with a neutral linen duvet and great pillows.  I also love custom sheeting and blankets from Legacy as well.

I think these pillows would be great to add a little pop to the room as well.

Or maybe these would work too?

I also love sheeting with great lime green pin-striping.  These would be perfect…

I am already excited about how this room will turn out, especially since it can be done in about four weeks!  Now that’s a Master Bedroom Designed with a Deadline!

Did you know that furniture designs introduced at High Point Furniture Markets often aren’t available for another six months or so?  It’s much like fashion in that way…introducing Fall in the Spring!

In order to remember all of the great pieces I saw in High Point, I make Look Books on my iPad.  Since I take almost 3,000 images whiel I am there (1 of the piece and 1 of the tag with all the info), it pays to be organized.

I have albums with each vendor listed, so when I am searching for a great new piece for a project, I can grab the image and put it into my presentation.  I can also check the price to make sure it fits in our budget.  I have used these look books for at least two years now and they are the key to my inspiration when I am feeling “stumped” on a project.

Give it a try.  You will love having look books of the products you love any time you make a shopping trip!

Do you have an organizational tip like this you could share with us?  I would love to hear what it is!  Post it as a comment here on the blog.

Friday Focus: Lighting from High Point

I love lighting showrooms.  There are so many great introductions and most of the showrooms I shop have between 2,000 and 3,000 items in their line.  I always go through and say to my rep, “Is that new?” and he laughs at me, because it’s NOT!  I just didn’t see it last time because I wasn’t looking for it.

Below are a few of my favorite images from High Point.  I got back Wednesday night and can’t wait to continue sharing my new finds.  Enjoy!

Currey and Company – massive scale on this piece would make it perfect for a two-story entry

Beautiful etched pendant light from Jamie Young

Great island fixture from Visual Comfort

Farmhouse chic from Suzanne Kasler for Visual Comfort
